Relax...It's the Gospel, not brain surgery!!!!!!!

I entitle this SOAP "Relax".........This is my opinion only and not meant to overspiritualize or underspiritualize anybody else's interpretation of scripture...this is just how I see it :) Most of the time, my opinion and 25 cents won't by you a cup of coffee :)

Scripture: Taken from Mark 6:7-12

Observation: I have seen over the years the rise of what has come to be known as the "Mega Church Mentality". Though we all know that we should not judge, lest we be judged, it amazes me that we can take something so simple as spreading the Gospel, and being the "Church", and make it so complicated. I have a dear friend from my old church that used to go witness with me in the Olive Branch park on Saturday's. Recently I was in the park with my daughter and he and another young man was there sharing. As I went over to give him a hug, two young men walked buy. He stopped our conversation and I stood by in amazement and excitement as old memories came over me. I watched him strike up a conversation with them and about ten minutes later, both those young men prayed to recieve Christ standing right there on the sidewalk. Do you know how much money it cost to add those two precious souls to the Lambs Book of Life? $0...Absolutely nothing!!!!!!! All it took was following the standard Jesus set for the disciples:

Mark 6:7.... Then Jesus went around teaching from village to village. 7Calling the Twelve to him, he sent them out two by two and gave them authority over evil[b] spirits.
8These were his instructions: "Take nothing for the journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in your belts. 9Wear sandals but not an extra tunic. 10Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town. 11And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, shake the dust off your feet when you leave, as a testimony against them."
12They went out and preached that people should repent. 13They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them.

I am all about using today's technology to be relevant to today's generation, but we as Christians can't abandon the fundamental's for the sake of relevancy. Never expect technology to accomplish what loving on someone face to face will do. A computer can't put arms around someone and hold them through a crisis, and projectors are only a light with a prism portraying a picture, and all is worthless if not prefaced by a loving spirit. So don't over complicate spreading the message of Chirst. It's the Gospel, not brain surgery!!!!!

Application: Guess I need to get back in the park :) My butts been on the bench long enough!!!!

Prayer: Lord, today and everyday you bless me more than I deserve. I thank you that you still use sinfull people to accomplish your perfect purpose. I stand here willing to get back in the game and ask you to cleanse me that I may be a usefull vessel for your spirit to flow through.

In Jesus Name, Amen
